Nerd Alert!

Saw this Ginkgo and it really bothered me.  Just one cut to save the whole tree!!  I'm not even sure I can sleep tonight.  Pretty nerdy.

Group Effort

Someone pruned these piece of junk trees near my apartment last week.  I think it was a neighbor or nearby homeowner because only these four trees were messed with.  I really don't understand why someone would cut only half a branch... and why they chose the branches they did.  I imagine a truck was out of control and careened up on to the sidewalk and broke all of these branches.  Thank goodness no other damage was done.

Great, Big A**

Another awesome tree from Hidden Lake Forest Preserve. Fraxinus, probably americana. Celastris and Ganoderma also pictured :)

Mammoth!!

I saw this weird looker at Hidden Lake Forest Preserve, on the Eastern border of the Morton Arboretum. These two dead branches look like giant tusks. Pretty cool.

Hidden Gems

This winter I had the privilege of running the FECON skid steer at Hidden Lake Forest Preserve in DuPage County. The area hasn't been managed for some time and there are a lot of crazy huge trees in there. This photo is of the biggest Prunus serotina I have ever seen. I threw my glove in there for scale.

VersaLift

My friend Ryan took this photo of me in the VersaLift, fully extended!! Just playin' during a hard day of lift truck pruning. I had an awesome time uploading this photo, btw, that's why it looks a lot like my desktop....
